M.P. Government to map ‘happiness quotient’

  • The Madhya Pradesh Government has tied up with Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur to get the ‘happiness quotient’ of people living in the state. IIT Kharagpur the only institute to have a happiness centre.
  • The survey will be carried out and the study based on the survey will show, how happy are the people with their lives in Madhya Pradesh.
  • The MP Government had set up the ‘Anand Vibhag’, or the happiness department, in 2016. Now, it is launching an exercise to interact with the people of the State and find out how happy they were.
  • The institute is currently preparing the questionnaire. Then the government will involve an army of interviewers to reach far-flung villages to get the feedback of different sample groups and then prepare the happiness index.
