India wins Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2018

  • Indian Under-19 cricket team defeated Australia on February 3, 2018 and won the title of ‘Under-19 Cricket World Cup’ for the fourth time. Australia, batting first, scored 216 runs in 47.2 overs after loosing all the 10 wickets, which India achieved in the 39th over losing just two wickets .
  • The final match was played at Bay Oval Stadium at Mount Maunganui in New Zealand.
  • India is the only country to win the Under-19 World Cup title four times.
  • In this Cricket World Cup, India was the only team that remained undefeated through out the tournament.
  • In the final match, India’s Manoj Kalra played a 101-run knock. Kalra is the second player to score a century in any of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup finals. The first player is Unmukt Chand of India.
  • Manoj Kalra was declared the ‘Man of the Match‘ in the final match.
  • India, so far, has played six finals of Under-19 Cricket World Cup and won four finals. In the 2016 World Cup finals, India was defeated by the West Indies.
  • India won the Under-19 World Cup four times i.e. 2000, 2008, 2012 and 2018.
  • Under-19 Cricket world Cup is held every two years.
