Australian Open 2019: List of Winners

  • Novak Djokovic of Serbia defeated Rafael Nadal of Spain by 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 to win the Australian Open Men’s Singles title 2019. He has won a record seventh Australian Open title and his 15th grand slam title. He has surpassed Pete Sampras in the all-time list. He’s two behind Nadal. He’s five behind Roger Federer. After defeating Rafael Nadal he received Norman Brookes Challenge Cup.
  • Earlier, Japan’s Naomi Osaka on January 26, 2019 won her maiden Australian Open Grand Slam Singles title at Melbourne. In the Final, Osaka defeated Czech Petra Kvitova, 7-6, 5-7, 6-4 to become the first Asian player to achieve the world number one ranking. She will surpass Romania’s Simona Halep at the top of the rankings on Monday and become the youngest number one since Caroline Wozniacki in 2010. The Japanese also made history by becoming the first player since 2001 to win back-to-back Grand Slam titles.

  • Men’s Doubles: Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut defeated Henri Kontinen and Australian John Peers by 6-4 7-6(1)
  • Women’s Doubles: Sam Stosur and Zhang Shuai defeated Kristina Mladenovic of France and Timea Babos of Hungary by 6-3, 6-4 to win the title
  • Mixed Doubles: Barbora Krejčíková and Rajeev Ram defeated A. Sharma and J. Smith by 7-6, 6-1 to win the Mixed Doubles title.
