11th International Day of Yoga 2025 Theme

On June 21, 2025, the world marked the 11th International Day of Yoga under the theme “Yoga for One Earth One Health.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the national celebrations in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

New Guinness World Record Set

The main national event in Visakhapatnam saw the participation of over three lakh people, setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering for a yoga session at a single location. This massive turnout underscored the growing global appeal of yoga.

A Decade of Global Recognition

The journey of International Yoga Day began on September 27, 2014, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the idea at the United Nations. Just a few months later, on December 11, 2014, the United Nations officially declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga, garnering support from 193 member states and 173 co-sponsors. The first-ever International Yoga Day was celebrated on June 21, 2015, at Rajpath, New Delhi, also led by Prime Minister Modi.

Yoga’s Growing Global Impact

Since its inception in 2015, India has consistently spearheaded the global celebration of International Yoga Day, witnessing increasing participation year after year. From renowned global landmarks to remote rural villages, yoga has positively impacted millions of lives worldwide. It champions physical fitness, mental peace, and a balanced lifestyle. The widespread adoption of yoga over the past 11 years truly reflects India’s enduring message of unity, wellness, and inner strength.
