5th edition of the Rüsoma Orange Festival

The 5th edition of the Rüsoma Orange Festival was held at Rüsoma village, located about 10 km from Kohima, the capital of Nagaland.

Organised under the theme “Abundance of Rüsoma”, the two-day festival aimed to promote village welfare, boost rural entrepreneurship, and recognise the efforts of local orange growers, while showcasing the distinct taste and quality of Rüsoma oranges.

About Rüsoma Orange Farming

  • At present, 470 out of 570 households in Rüsoma village are engaged in orange cultivation, making it the backbone of the local economy.
  • The village plans to expand its orange orchards to 100 hectares over the next six to seven years.
  • Future production is expected to reach around 25 lakh oranges, significantly enhancing rural incomes.
