68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC)

Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla led the Indian Parliamentary Delegation to the 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) held in Bridgetown, Barbados, from October 5–12, 2025.

  • Theme: The conference was held on the theme “The Commonwealth – A Global Partner.”
  • Address Highlights:
    • Shri Birla underscored that India is a living example of democracy and equality, guided by its Constitution for the past 75 years.
    • He stated that democracy is India’s soul, equality its resolve, and justice its identity.

  • Invitation for Next Conference:
    Shri Birla invited Presiding Officers of Parliaments of Commonwealth countries to participate in the upcoming Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) to be held in New Delhi from January 7 to 9, 2026.
  • Significance:
    • The participation reaffirms India’s commitment to strengthening parliamentary democracy and global cooperation through the Commonwealth framework.
    • The invitation to host the next CSPOC reflects India’s leadership role within the Commonwealth Parliamentary community.
