Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan

The Government of India has declared 15 November 2024 to 15 November 2025 as Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh. As a landmark initiative under this celebration, the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs has rolled out the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, envisioned as the world’s largest grassroots tribal leadership programme.

Nationwide Coverage Across 1 Lakh Villages
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Dhar, Madhya Pradesh on 17 September, the Abhiyan seeks to empower 11 crore tribal citizens across 1 lakh villages in 30 States and Union Territories. The mission aims to nurture local leadership and enhance responsive governance.

Adi Sewa Kendras at the Village Level
Every participating village will establish an Adi Sewa Kendra—a single-window citizen service centre. Residents will contribute “Adi Sewa Samay”, a weekly hour of voluntary community service, to strengthen participatory governance.

AI-Powered Communication via Adi Vaani App
To overcome language barriers, the government has introduced the Adi Vaani App, an AI-based language bridge designed to connect officials with tribal communities in their native languages. The app will initially support four tribal languages, with more to be added.

Building a Network of Tribal Change-Makers
Through its Behavioural Process Lab, the programme has reached district, block, and village-level functionaries. So far, 20 lakh officials, SHG women, and tribal youth have been trained to serve as Adi Karmayogis—grassroots leaders committed to service, empowerment, and transformation of tribal societies.
