Agariyas

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), in collaboration with Sarhad Dairy in Kutch, has established a new cooperative body specifically for salt producers.

Key Objective:

• This new cooperative aims to bring together small ‘agariyas’—the community traditionally engaged in salt farming practices—onto a common platform.
• The initiative is designed to ensure that the profit from salt production directly benefits the agariyas, thereby serving as a potential model for other small salt producers.
