Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee-Chevening Scholarship Scheme

The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved the “Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee-Chevening Uttar Pradesh State Government Scholarship Scheme” to help meritorious students from the state pursue a one-year master’s degree in the United Kingdom.

Key Features of the Scheme

• Collaboration: The scholarship is a joint initiative between the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
• Beneficiaries: Each year, five outstanding students from Uttar Pradesh will be awarded the scholarship.
• Financial Support: The scholarship is comprehensive, covering tuition fees, examination and research expenses, a monthly living allowance, and round-trip airfare. The Uttar Pradesh government will contribute approximately ₹23 lakh per student, with the remaining costs covered by the FCDO.
• Duration: The scheme will be launched for the academic year 2025-26 and is set to run for three years, until the 2027-28 academic year.
• Selection: The selection process will be fair and transparent, conducted in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two parties.
