Bright Star 2025

Why in the News?

• More than 700 personnel from the Indian Armed Forces & Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff are set to participate in the Multilateral Exercise ‘Bright Star 2025’ from August 28 – September 10, 2025.
• The exercise will feature a comprehensive spectrum of military activities.

• Host: Egypt (in conjunction with the United States) since 1980.
• Nature: One of the largest Tri-Service multilateral exercises in the Middle East–North Africa (MENA) region.
• Frequency: Held biennially.
• Last Edition (2023): Witnessed participation from multiple nations, including India, with deployment of troops.
• Significance:
  • Enhances interoperability and military diplomacy.
  • Strengthens tri-service jointness and operational synergy.
  • Provides exposure to multi-national operational environments.
