BRO’s Project Arunank Celebrates 18th Raising Day

Project Arunank of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) celebrated its 18th Raising Day on 24 October at Naharlagun, marking over 17 years of dedicated service in strengthening infrastructure and connectivity across Arunachal Pradesh’s remote and high-altitude regions.

Key Highlights:

• Establishment and Scope: Founded in 2008, Project Arunank has constructed and maintained over 696 km of roads and 1.18 km of major bridges, greatly improving access to remote valleys and forward border areas.
• Strategic Importance: The project plays a vital role in enhancing mobility for the Armed Forces and boosting socio-economic development in the frontier state.
• Landmark Achievement: The 278 km Hapoli–Sarli–Huri Road, blacktopped for the first time since Independence, has connected one of the most remote regions of Kurung Kumey district, significantly improving local connectivity.
• Technological Innovations: Project Arunank has adopted modern and eco-friendly construction techniques, including the use of steel slag, cut-and-cover tunnels, geo cells, plastic sheets, GGBFS concrete, and gabion walls to enhance durability and sustainability.
• Sustainability Focus: Through its innovative approach, the project continues to promote resilient and sustainable infrastructure development in one of India’s most challenging terrains.
