Centre launches new interventions in Export Promotion Mission

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on 20 February launched seven new interventions under the government’s Export Promotion Mission, aimed at boosting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and strengthening India’s global export competitiveness.

The new initiatives focus on simplifying export procedures, improving MSME access to credit, raising quality standards, ensuring compliance with international regulations, and expanding global logistics and warehousing networks. The Mission seeks to address key bottlenecks faced by exporters while promoting inclusive and broad-based export growth.

The Export Promotion Mission follows a holistic ecosystem approach, combining financial support under Niryat Protsahan with trade facilitation under Niryat Disha. These measures will be delivered through a unified, digitally monitored framework to enhance efficiency and transparency.

The programme is being implemented by the Department of Commerce in coordination with the Ministry of MSME, Ministry of Finance, EXIM Bank, Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises, National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company Limited, regulated lending institutions, export promotion councils, Indian Missions abroad, and industry stakeholders.

Officials said the Mission is designed to empower MSMEs to compete effectively in global markets and position India as a globally competitive export powerhouse.
