Centre Launches Trade Intelligence & Analytics (TIA) Portal

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal launched the Trade Intelligence & Analytics (TIA) Portal, aimed at enhancing transparency and accessibility of trade data.

Empowering Businesses:

  • The Minister emphasized the need for greater transparency in trade data to help stakeholders make informed decisions.
  • The portal will benefit importers, exporters, startups, and MSMEs, enabling even small businesses in remote regions to access data previously available only to large enterprises.

Background & Development:

  • The Department of Commerce initiated the development of the TIA Portal in March 2024, recognizing the need for a strong intelligence and analytics framework.
  • It was designed to support evidence-based policymaking and targeted sectoral interventions across commodity divisions, territorial divisions, EPCs, and missions abroad.

Integrated Trade Analytics Platform:

  • The TIA Portal serves as a one-stop digital hub, consolidating global and bilateral trade databases, including UN Comtrade, into an integrated system.
  • It covers India’s trade, global trade, and bilateral flows, with multiple databases on trade and macro-economic indicators.

Advanced Analytical Capabilities:

  • Automated tools provide deep insights into India’s bilateral trade dynamics and global trade flows with over 220 countries.
  • The Trade Watch Tower feature delivers country- and commodity-level intelligence, offering visualisations, trend analysis, and tools for identifying market diversification opportunities.

Focus on Accessibility & Scalability:

  • The portal is built as a cost-effective, open-source solution, ensuring wide accessibility and user-centric design.
  • It aims to strengthen data-driven decision-making across the trade ecosystem.
