Chanakya Defence Dialogue 2025

Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on 27 November presented the Indian Army’s three-phase transformation roadmap and identified “four key drivers for the next leap” during the Chanakya Defence Dialogue 2025 held at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi.

• High-Level Conclave on National Security: The third edition of the Dialogue—organised by the Indian Army in collaboration with the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS)—brought together:

  • Senior military leaders
  • Global strategic experts
  • Diplomats and policymakers
  • Defence industry representatives
  • Young scholars

The event focused on national security, modern warfare challenges, and pathways for defence transformation.

• Dialogue’s Growing Importance Since 2023: Since its inception in 2023, the Chanakya Defence Dialogue has grown into a key strategic platform, showcasing the Army’s commitment to continuous and comprehensive transformation in doctrine, capability, and preparedness.

• About CLAWS: The Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) is an independent New Delhi–based think tank specialising in strategic studies and land warfare.

  • Registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860
  • Operates under the aegis of the Indian Army
  • Functions as a membership-based organisation
  • Governed by a Board of Governors and an Executive Council

• Strengthening India’s Defence Thought Leadership: Through such dialogues, the Indian Army aims to foster informed debate, enhance military-strategic thinking, and guide the nation’s defence transformation agenda for the coming decades.
