  • India’s First Nitric-Oxide-Releasing Wound Dressing Launched:
    • The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), in collaboration with Cologenesis Pvt. Ltd., launched ColoNoX, India’s first nitric-oxide-releasing wound dressing.
    • Designed for treating diabetic foot ulcers (DFU), it was developed by BARC and clinically validated through Phase II and III trials.
    • The product has received DCGI approval for commercial production and is expected to provide affordable, effective treatment for diabetic patients.
  • Advancement in Rare-Earth Research:
    • DAE introduced an indigenously developed Certified Reference Material (CRM) named Ferrocarbonatite (FC) – BARC B140.
    • It will aid in exploration, extraction, and process control of Rare Earth Elements (REEs).
    • This CRM is the first of its kind in India and only the fourth in the world, strengthening India’s analytical capabilities in strategic sectors.

    • Both innovations reflect DAE’s commitment to leveraging nuclear science for societal benefit.
    • The CRM supports India’s progress toward Atmanirbhar Bharat, enhancing self-reliance in critical mineral research and technology.
