Combined Task Force (CTF) 154

In a significant milestone, the Indian Navy has assumed command of Combined Task Force (CTF) 154, marking the first time India has led the multinational training task force under the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF).

The change of command ceremony was held at the CMF headquarters in Manama, Bahrain.

Focus on Training and Capacity Building

CTF-154, established in May 2023, is dedicated to training and capacity building for member nations of the 47-nation CMF. The task force aims to enhance maritime security through multinational training programmes across the Middle East and the wider region.

It regularly conducts Maritime Security Enhancement Training (MSET) events and leads key exercises such as Compass Rose, and Northern and Southern Readiness drills.

Role Within Combined Maritime Forces

CTF-154 operates alongside other CMF task forces:

  • CTF 150 – Maritime Security
  • CTF 151 – Counter-Piracy
  • CTF 152 – Maritime Security in the Arabian Gulf
  • CTF 153 – Maritime Security in the Red Sea

The CMF is a 47-nation naval partnership committed to promoting security, stability and prosperity across nearly 3.2 million square miles of international waters, including some of the world’s most critical shipping lanes.
