Delhi Announces ‘Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana’

The Delhi Government has announced the launch of a new welfare initiative, ‘Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana’, aimed at securing the educational and financial future of girls in the national capital. The scheme will replace the existing Ladli Scheme (2008).

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the new scheme integrates social security with education-linked incentives, reinforcing the government’s long-term commitment to gender equity, financial inclusion, and human capital development.

Key Features of the Scheme

  • Under the scheme, eligible girls will receive ₹56,000 in instalments, beginning from birth and continuing until the completion of graduation.
  • Upon successful completion of education, the scheme will mature, and the beneficiary will receive over ₹1 lakh.
  • The accumulated amount will be invested through a structured financial instrument, ensuring growth over time.
  • The final maturity amount will be credited directly to the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-linked bank account.

Fully Digital and Transparent Process

The Chief Minister emphasized that the entire process — from application to disbursal — will be conducted online, eliminating the need to visit government offices. A dedicated digital portal will be created for the scheme to ensure transparency and ease of access.
