Duplantis, McLaughlin-Levrone Named World Athletes of the Year 2025

Sweden’s pole vault sensation Armand Duplantis and American sprint star Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone were crowned World Athletes of the Year at the 2025 World Athletics Awards, following a season of exceptional achievements.

• Armand Duplantis: Men’s World Athlete of the Year
  • Broke the men’s pole vault world record four times in 2025.
  • Remained undefeated in all 16 competitions, including sweeping both indoor and outdoor world titles.
  • Became the first male pole vaulter in modern athletics to stay undefeated in a single event for two consecutive years.
  • Also named Men’s Field Athlete of the Year.
• Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone: Women’s World Athlete of the Year
  • Won the women’s 400m title at the Tokyo World Championships with 47.78 seconds, breaking a 42-year-old Championships record.
