e-Production Investment Business Visa (e-B-4 Visa)

India has introduced a new e-Production Investment Business Visa (e-B-4 Visa) to facilitate the entry of Chinese businessmen for specific business and industrial activities. The visa came into effect on January 1.

Online Application Without Embassy Visit
According to an advisory issued by the Indian Embassy in Beijing, applicants can apply for the e-B-4 Visa entirely online, without visiting the embassy or using agents. The visa is expected to be processed within 45–50 days.

Six-Month Stay Permitted
The e-B-4 Visa allows Chinese nationals to stay in India for up to six months, enabling medium-term engagement for approved business purposes.

Wide Range of Permitted Activities
The visa can be availed for activities including:

• Installation and commissioning of equipment
• Quality checks and essential maintenance
• Production processes
• IT and ERP ramp-up
• Training and capacity building
• Supply chain development and vendor empanelment
• Plant design and commissioning
• Visits by senior management and executives

Role of Indian Companies
Indian companies seeking to invite Chinese nationals under the e-B-4 Visa can apply by registering on the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) portal through the National Single Window System (NSWS).
