Exercise Cold Response 26

NATO has commenced its biennial Arctic military drill Exercise Cold Response 26, with a renewed focus on the role of civilian support in military operations. The exercise is scheduled to take place from March 9 to March 19 in the Arctic region.

The drills are being led by Norway and involve around 25,000 troops from 14 countries, including the United States and Denmark. The United States is expected to deploy approximately 4,000 troops for the exercise.

The exercise has now been incorporated into Arctic Sentry, a mission launched by North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to strengthen its strategic presence in the polar region.

According to officials, the initiative also aims to ease geopolitical tensions related to Greenland, particularly following differences between NATO allies and former U.S. President Donald Trump over the Arctic island.
