Exercise Sea Dragon 2026

India is participating in the United States Navy-led multinational anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise Sea Dragon 2026, currently underway near Guam.

The high-end maritime exercise has brought together forces from Australia, Japan, and New Zealand, with the objective of enhancing interoperability, coordination, and combat readiness in undersea warfare operations.

The Indian Navy is participating alongside the Royal Australian Air Force, which has deployed a P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft along with around 50 aviators from its recently re-formed No. 12 Squadron to Andersen Air Force Base.

During the exercise, participating crews will undertake complex ASW missions, including the detection and tracking of both simulated and live submarine targets. The drills are designed to rigorously test operational capabilities such as speed, precision, and coordinated mission execution in high-intensity maritime scenarios.
