Five Maharashtra Beaches Receive Blue Flag Certification

Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare announced that five beaches in the state have been awarded the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE)’s Blue Flag certification, an internationally recognised eco-label.

Beaches Awarded:

  1. Shrivardhan Beach – Raigad district
  2. Nagaon Beach – Raigad district
  3. Parnaka Beach – Palghar district
  4. Guhagar Beach – Ratnagiri district
  5. Ladghar Beach – Ratnagiri district

About the Blue Flag Certification:

  • Awarded by Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), headquartered in Denmark.
  • It is one of the world’s most prestigious eco-labels for beaches, marinas, and sustainable tourism boats.
  • To receive the Blue Flag, beaches must meet 33 stringent criteria covering:
    • Environmental education and information
    • Water quality
    • Environmental management
    • Safety and services
