Five MoES Institutes Merged to Form Earth System Sciences Council (ESSC)

The Union Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) has merged five separate societies and autonomous bodies into a single umbrella organisation called the Earth System Sciences Council (ESSC) to streamline governance and strengthen public identity.

  The merger brings together five previously independent institutes under one coordinated framework, aiming to improve efficiency and reduce administrative overlap.
• First General Body Meeting:
  Chaired by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh as President of ESSC. Discussions focused on governance, coordination, and public visibility of earth system science initiatives.
