France Unveils Images of New-Generation Nuclear-Capable ASMPA-R Missile

France has, for the first time, published images of its latest-generation nuclear-capable supersonic air-to-surface cruise missile, the Air-Sol Moyenne Portée–Renove (ASMPA-R). The release follows a recent test-firing of an unarmed ASMPA-R from a French Navy Dassault Rafale-M fighter jet.

Successful Evaluation Test

  • The Nuclear Aeronaval Force (FANU) conducted a successful evaluation shot of the renovated medium-range strategic missile.
  • This test confirms the missile’s operational readiness following its formal entry into service.

Operational Deployment

  • The ASMPA-R has been in service with the French Strategic Air Forces (Forces Aériens Stratégiques – FAS) since 2023.
  • Both the French Air and Space Force and the French Navy deploy Rafale variants as launch platforms for the missile.
