Him‑CONNECT

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav inaugurated the Silver Jubilee edition of the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS), organised by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).

During the event, he also launched Him‑CONNECT, a dedicated platform created by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) to promote climate-focused innovation in Himalayan and mountain regions.

About Him-CONNECT

Him-CONNECT aims to bridge the gap between science and society by bringing together:

  • Researchers and academic institutions
  • Start-ups and entrepreneurs
  • Investors and development agencies
  • Policymakers and community stakeholders

The platform focuses on turning research outcomes into real-world solutions for climate resilience and sustainable development.

Key Objectives

  • Strengthen linkages between research, policy, and financing
  • Promote community-centred environmental action
  • Encourage innovation in fragile ecosystems like the Himalayas
  • Support green growth and climate-resilient development

The initiative aligns with India’s approach of placing local communities at the centre of environmental governance.

Global Significance

Him-CONNECT reflects India’s commitment to:

  • Solution-oriented climate leadership
  • South-South cooperation
  • Partnership, co-financing, and replication in other mountain regions

By integrating science, finance, and policy, the platform aims to create scalable solutions from the Himalayas to other vulnerable regions worldwide.
