ICMR-SHINE Initiative

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has launched the ICMR-SHINE Initiative (Science & Health Innovation for the Nextgen Explorers), a nationwide student outreach program. Taking place on August 8, 2025, the initiative aims to inspire students from Classes 9 to 12 to pursue careers in health research.

Key Highlights of ICMR-SHINE

• Objective: The program seeks to ignite scientific curiosity and foster innovation among young students.
• Format: For the first time, all ICMR institutes will simultaneously host interactive and educational activities to engage thousands of young minds in science, health, and biomedical research.
• Alignment with National Vision: The initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s call for “One Day as a Scientist,” which was announced in February 2025 during the Mann ki Baat address. It reflects ICMR’s commitment to nurturing India’s future scientific leaders.
