India, Australia and Canada Launch ACITI Partnership

India, Australia and Canada unveiled the Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership on 22 November during the G20 Summit in Johannesburg.

  • Focus on critical and emerging technologies: The initiative aims to deepen cooperation in clean energy, resilient and diversified supply chains—especially in critical minerals—as well as the development and large-scale adoption of artificial intelligence (AI).
  • High-level meeting: The announcement followed discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Australian PM Anthony Albanese, and Canadian PM Mark Carney on the sidelines of the Summit.
  • Pooling national strengths: A joint statement said the ACITI Partnership will leverage the technological and industrial capabilities of all three countries to advance shared goals for a secure, sustainable and innovation-driven future.
  • Next steps: Officials from India, Australia and Canada will convene in the first quarter of 2026 to progress the partnership and outline concrete actions.
