India, Australia & Canada Launch ACITI Partnership

Johannesburg: India, Australia, and Canada on November 23 announced a new trilateral platform — the Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership — aimed at deepening cooperation in critical and emerging technologies. The announcement was made during the G20 Summit in Johannesburg.

Focus on Critical & Emerging Technologies

The ACITI Partnership seeks to strengthen collaboration in key sectors such as:

  • Clean energy technologies
  • Resilient and diversified supply chains, especially in critical minerals
  • Artificial intelligence development and large-scale adoption

The initiative aims to harness the complementary technological and industrial capabilities of the three countries.

High-Level Meeting on Sidelines of G20

The announcement came after a trilateral meeting between:

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi
  • Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese
  • Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney

The leaders underscored their commitment to building secure, sustainable and innovation-driven cooperation.

A joint statement from the three governments highlighted that the ACITI Partnership will:

  • Leverage national strengths in technology and industry
  • Support mutual strategic interests

Next Steps

Officials from India, Australia, and Canada will convene in the first quarter of 2026 to chart the roadmap for operationalising the partnership.
