India campus of University of Southampton in Gurugram

On July 16, 2025, the University of Southampton’s India campus in Gurugram, Haryana, was inaugurated by Union Minister of Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Chief Minister of Haryana Shri Nayab Singh Saini.

  • This inauguration marks a significant step in the internationalization of education under India’s National Education Policy 2020, making the University of Southampton the first foreign university to establish a campus in India under the new UGC regulations.
  • The Gurugram campus aims to promote innovation, research, and provide world-class, affordable education.
  • Starting in 2025, it will offer globally recognized undergraduate (BSc) courses in Computer Science, Economics, Accounting & Finance, and Business Management, along with postgraduate (MSc) courses in Finance and International Management. Students will also have the opportunity to spend up to one year at the University’s UK or Malaysia campuses.
  • The university plans to recruit over 75 full-time faculty members who meet UK academic standards, bringing diverse global experience.
  • The initial cohort includes students from India and international locations such as the UAE and Nepal. This establishment is viewed as a move to strengthen education cooperation between India and the UK and to position India as a global hub for knowledge.
