India–Indonesia Joint Special Forces Exercise ‘Garuda Shakti’ Begins in Himachal Pradesh

The 10th edition of the India–Indonesia Joint Special Forces Exercise GARUDA SHAKTI has commenced at the Special Forces Training School (SFTS) in Bakloh, Himachal Pradesh. The exercise, scheduled from 3 to 12 December 2025, aims to enhance mutual cooperation, interoperability and understanding between the elite Special Forces of both nations.

Troops from The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) are representing India, while the Indonesian Special Forces personnel form the visiting contingent.

Key Highlights of Exercise GARUDA SHAKTI

  • Strengthening Bilateral Special Forces Cooperation:
    Focus on enhancing interoperability, coordination and shared tactical understanding.
  • Counter-Terrorism Training:
    Includes joint practice in troop-level tactics, techniques and procedures designed for counter-terrorism scenarios.
  • Advanced Combat Modules:
    • Unarmed combat techniques
    • Combat shooting and sniping
    • Heliborne operations
    • Planning and execution of drone, counter-UAS and loiter-munition strikes in semi-mountainous terrain
  • Knowledge and Expertise Exchange:
    Personnel from both sides will share experience related to equipment, weapon systems and operational practices.
