India–Malaysia Joint Military Exercise ‘Harimau Shakti-2025’ Begins in Rajasthan

The 5th edition of the joint military exercise Harimau Shakti-2025 began on 5 December 2025 at the Mahajan Field Firing Range, Rajasthan. The exercise will be conducted from 5 to 18 December 2025.

Participating Contingents

  • India: Troops primarily from the DOGRA Regiment.
  • Malaysia: Personnel from the 25th Battalion, Royal Malaysian Army.

Aim of the Exercise

  • To jointly rehearse Sub-Conventional Operations under Chapter VII of the UN Mandate.
  • To enhance the ability of both armies to conduct counter-terrorism operations in a coordinated and effective manner.

Scope and Major Activities

  • Synergising joint responses during counter-terrorist operations.
  • Practising tactical actions including:
    • Cordon and search operations
    • Destroy missions
    • Heliborne operations
    • Securing helipads
    • Casualty evacuation drills
  • Additional elements include:
    • Army Martial Arts Routine (AMAR)
    • Combat reflex shooting
    • Yoga sessions

Focus on Interoperability and Safety

  • The exercise aims to improve interoperability between the two armies.
  • Emphasis on minimising risk to life and property during live operations.
  • Ensuring all actions remain aligned with the UN’s objectives during peacekeeping missions.
