India to Host 2029 World Police and Fire Games

India has been designated as the host country for the prestigious 2029 World Police and Fire Games.

About the World Police & Fire Games:

  • Organizers: The Games are governed by the California Police Athletic Federation (CPAF), the Host City, & the WPFG Board of Directors.
  • Frequency: These games are organized once every two years since their inception in 1985.
  • Editions Held: So far, 20 editions of the games have taken place.
    • Host countries have included USA (8 times), Canada (5 times), Europe (4 times), UK (2 times), and China (once).
  • Participants: The Games are open to serving and retired personnel from various emergency and first responder services, including:
    • Police
    • Fire
    • Medical
    • Emergency
    • Disaster services
    • Other First Responders
  • India’s Participation:
    • The Indian Police contingent first participated in these games in the Adelaide World Police and Fire Games in 2007.
    • Since their participation in 2007, the Indian Police contingent has won over 1400 medals across 8 editions of the games.
  • Latest Edition (20th):
    • Held in Winnipeg, Canada, from July 26 to August 6, 2023.
    • 133 Indian Police sportspersons won a record 343 medals (224 Gold, 82 Silver, 37 Bronze).
  • Selection Process: The Indian contingent for the World Police & Fire Games is selected based on the players’ performance during the annual All India Police Games held in that respective year.
