Indian Army Procures BvS10 Sindhu All-Terrain Vehicles from L&T

The Indian Army signed a contract with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the procurement of BvS10 Sindhu vehicles. L&T collaborated with BAE Systems, the original manufacturer, for technical and design support.

Indigenous Production:

  • L&T will produce the BvS10 Sindhu at its Armoured Systems Complex in Hazira, marking a significant step in domestic defence manufacturing.

About BvS10 Sindhu:

  • An upgraded variant of the proven BvS10 articulated all-terrain vehicle.
  • Specifically adapted for India’s diverse terrain and climate, including high-altitude, desert, marshland, and amphibious environments.

Performance Trials:

  • The vehicle successfully completed demanding trials, demonstrating exceptional mobility and operational reliability at both sea level and high-altitude regions.

Strategic Importance:

  • The programme enhances the Indian Army’s operational, strategic, and tactical mobility across varied deployment scenarios.
  • Supports India’s broader goal of modernising military capabilities while strengthening indigenous defence production.
