Indian Coast Guard Commissions ICGS ‘Amulya’

Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Amulya was commissioned on 19 December 2025.

  • The commissioning ceremony was held in Goa.
  • It is the third vessel in the series of eight new-generation Adamya-class Fast Patrol Vessels.

Design and Construction

  • Designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL).
  • The 51-metre-long vessel sets a new benchmark in indigenous shipbuilding.
  • Incorporates over 60% indigenous components, reflecting strong domestic capability.

Aatmanirbhar Bharat Push

  • The name ‘Amulya’, meaning ‘priceless’, symbolises India’s growing self-reliance.
  • Aligns with the Government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.
  • Highlights India’s progress towards defence indigenisation.

Technical Capabilities

  • Integrates a modern design philosophy focused on:
    • Efficiency
    • Endurance
    • Rapid response
  • Powered by two advanced diesel engines of 3,000 kW each.
  • Capable of:
    • Top speed: 27 knots
    • Operational endurance: 1,500 nautical miles

Operational Role

  • Designed for extended missions in India’s maritime zones.
  • Enhances the Coast Guard’s capabilities in:
    • Maritime surveillance
    • Law enforcement
    • Search and rescue operations

Base and Command

  • Home port: Paradip, Odisha.
  • Will operate under the administrative and operational control of the
    Commander, Coast Guard Region (North East).
