India’s first green data centre

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology Jitendra Singh on 26 June laid the foundation stone for India’s first green data centre in Sahibabad, Ghaziabad.

  • The CEL-ESDS Green Data Centre is being developed by Central Electronics Limited (CEL).
  • The data centre will generate 20,000 megawatts of renewable energy by 2027, with CEL (PSU), a a Mini Ratna company, playing a key role in the mission.
  • The Green Data Centre is designed to consume less energy, offer full security and meet future requirements.
  • Through partnership with ESDS, CEL is combining modern cloud and data centre technologies with sustainability.
  • The centre will feature modular PODs, smart cooling, reflective roofing, rainwater harvesting, and multi-ISP support.
