India’s First Private Helicopter Assembly Line to Come Up in Kolar

In a major boost to India’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem, Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) will establish the country’s first helicopter final assembly line in the private sector at Vemagal, Kolar district, Karnataka. The facility will be dedicated to building the Airbus H125 helicopters.

‘Made in India’ Airbus H125 Helicopter

The H125, a light, single-engine helicopter, will be manufactured in India under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The indigenous production aims to:

• Support the development of new civil and para-public aviation markets,
• Address the Indian armed forces’ need for a light multi-role helicopter, particularly suited for high-altitude operations along the Himalayan frontiers, and
• Cater to export demands in the South Asian region.

The first “Made in India” H125 is expected to be delivered by early 2027.
