India’s M.A.N.A.V. Vision for AI

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on 19 February 2026.

The summit aims to position India as a global leader in Artificial Intelligence and promote responsible AI development.

During the event, the Prime Minister unveiled India’s M.A.N.A.V. Vision for AI governance, outlining five guiding principles:

  • M – Moral & Ethical Systems: AI must follow ethical standards
  • A – Accountable Governance: Transparent regulations and strong oversight
  • N – National Sovereignty: Data ownership remains with rightful owners
  • A – Accessible & Inclusive: AI should benefit all, not just a few
  • V – Valid & Legitimate: AI systems must be lawful and verifiable

He said the vision will help ensure AI benefits humanity while protecting national interests.

Theme of the Summit

The theme of the summit is “सर्वजन हिताय, सर्वजन सुखाय” (Welfare for all, Happiness for all), reflecting India’s emphasis on inclusive and human-centric technology.
