International Arya Mahasammelan 2025

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the International Arya Mahasammelan 2025, organised as part of the Jyāna Jyoti Festival, commemorating the 200th birth anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati Ji and 150 years of Arya Samaj’s service to society.

Revolutionary Inspiration from Arya Samaj

  • The Prime Minister cited the examples of Lala Lajpat Rai and martyr Ramprasad Bismil, among several revolutionaries who drew inspiration from the teachings of Arya Samaj.
  • He said that these freedom fighters dedicated themselves entirely to the Indian independence movement, guided by the reformist ideals of Swami Dayanand Ji.

Swami Dayanand’s Reformist Vision

  • PM Modi highlighted that Swami Dayanand Saraswati rejected caste-based discrimination and untouchability.
  • He launched a campaign against illiteracy and stood firm against those who distorted the meanings of the Vedas and scriptures.
  • Swami Dayanand also confronted foreign narratives and defended the truth through traditional Shastrarth (scriptural debate).

Empowerment through Education

  • Under his inspiration, Arya Samaj institutions began educating girls.
  • The first girls’ school in Jalandhar later evolved into a full-fledged women’s college, marking a significant step in women’s empowerment.

Global Participation at the Summit

  • The International Arya Summit 2025 brought together representatives from Arya Samaj units across India and abroad, showcasing the universal relevance of Maharshi Dayanand’s reformist ideals.
  • The event underscored Arya Samaj’s global outreach and its continued role in promoting truth, education, and social reform.

Legacy of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati

  • Born: February 12, 1824, in Tankara, Gujarat.
  • Education: Studied under Guru Virjanand Dandi Ji at Mathura.
  • Founded Arya Samaj: In 1875, at Bombay (Mumbai), to propagate the message of “Return to the Vedas.”
  • Demise: In 1883; after his death, DAV College, Lahore was established to honour his memory and continue his mission of spreading education and Vedic wisdom.
