LVM3-M6 Mission: ISRO Launches Heaviest Commercial LEO Satellite

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on December 24, 2025, successfully launched the BlueBird Block-2 communication satellite aboard the LVM3 (Gaganyaan-class) Bahubali rocket under the LVM3-M6 mission.

Key Highlights of the Mission

  • Launch Site: Second Launch Pad, Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota
  • Orbit Achieved: Low Earth Orbit (LEO)
  • Time to Orbit Insertion: ~15 minutes after lift-off

Major Milestones Achieved

  1. Largest commercial communications satellite ever deployed in Low Earth Orbit.
  2. Heaviest payload launched by LVM3 from Indian soil:
    • Payload mass: 6,100 kg
