Machine Vision Based Inspection System (MVIS)

Indian Railways has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) to install a Machine Vision Based Inspection System (MVIS). This collaboration aims to enhance the monitoring and maintenance of rolling stock health using advanced technology.

Key Features of MVIS:

  • Modern Technology: MVIS is a cutting-edge AI/ML-based solution designed for wayside deployment.
  • High-Resolution Imaging: It captures high-resolution images of the under-gear of moving trains.
  • Automated Anomaly Detection: The system automatically detects any hanging, loose, or missing components in real-time.
  • Real-time Alerts: Upon detecting anomalies, MVIS generates immediate alerts to facilitate prompt response and preventive maintenance.

DFCCIL’s Role in the MoU:

Under the terms of the MoU, DFCCIL will be responsible for:

  • Procurement of MVIS units.
  • Supply of MVIS units.
  • Installation of MVIS units.
  • Testing of MVIS units.
  • Commissioning of four MVIS units.
