Madhya Pradesh govt approves Rahveer scheme

Objective: To promote road safety and ensure timely medical assistance for road accident victims.

Key Provision:

  • Any person who takes an accident victim to a Primary Health Center (PHC) will receive a ₹25,000 reward from the state government.

Inspiration:

  • The scheme aligns with the Central Government’s road safety initiative.
  • Follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call during his Mann Ki Baat program, emphasizing the need for quick intervention to save lives in road accidents.

Goals of the Scheme:

  • Recognize and honour “Rahveers” (Good Samaritans) who help save lives.

State Context – Madhya Pradesh:

  • Among the top five states in India for road accident cases.
  • From 2018 to 2022, 58,580 people lost their lives in road accidents across the state (official report).
