Maharashtra CM announces successful implementation of ‘Garuda Drishti’

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced the successful implementation of ‘Garuda Drishti,’ a new social media monitoring and cyber intelligence project. The system, which has been developed to curb online criminal activities, is playing a key role in tracking down individuals who spread communal hatred and engage in fraudulent activities.

How Garuda Drishti Works

  • Real-time Monitoring: The “Garuda Drishti” system is a sophisticated cyber intelligence platform that uses world-class tools to conduct real-time social media surveillance. It was developed at a minimal cost through the “Cyber Hack 2025” competition, and its intellectual property is owned by the Nagpur Police.
  • Proactive Detection: The technology proactively analyzes social media trends and identifies suspicious accounts, hate speech, fake news, and controversial posts that have the potential to cause law-and-order issues. Since its inception, the system has examined over 30,000 posts, leading to the identification and removal of more than 650 offensive posts.
  • Tracking and Action: The system allows for the detection and tracking of individuals involved in criminal activities, including financial fraud and drug trafficking, enabling the police to take immediate action.
