Mos for Sports inaugurates Asmita League in Maharashtra

On the occasion of International Women’s Day (March 8), Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse inaugurated the ‘Asmita League’ in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra.

Addressing the event, the minister encouraged greater participation of women in sports, emphasizing the need to promote sporting opportunities for women in both urban and rural areas across the country.

Sports Events Organised

Various sports competitions for women were organised at the Divisional Sports Complex ground as part of the programme. During the event, Minister Khadse also flagged off a cycling competition and a walkathon, encouraging women to adopt active and healthy lifestyles.

Promoting Women in Sports

The Asmita League is being organised across districts in India under the Khelo India initiative. The programme aims to create more platforms for women to participate in different sports, identify talent, and promote grassroots-level sporting culture among women.
