MY Bharat – National Service Scheme (NSS) Awards

On October 6, 2025, the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, presented the MY Bharat – National Service Scheme (NSS) Awards for 2022–23 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The awards recognise the spirit of youth volunteerism and community service across the nation.

About the MY Bharat–NSS Programme

  • The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a flagship initiative of the Government of India under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
  • It was launched in 1969, during the birth centenary of Mahatma Gandhi, to encourage student participation in community service.
  • The programme aims to foster the personality development and character building of youth through voluntary social work.

About the MY Bharat–NSS Awards

  • Instituted: 1993–94 by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
  • Objective: To honour and celebrate outstanding NSS volunteers, programme officers, and institutions for their exemplary contribution in:
    • Social service
    • Community development
    • Nation-building activities
  • These awards highlight the role of youth in promoting selfless service, civic responsibility, and national integration.
