National Campaign on Entrepreneurship Launched to Boost Rural Enterprise

The Union Ministry of Rural Development on January 12, 2026, launched the National Campaign on Entrepreneurship with the objective of strengthening enterprise development and promoting self-employment across rural India.

The key aim of the campaign is to train and build the capacity of 50,000 Community Resource Persons (CRPs) in enterprise promotion and to impart Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) training to 50 lakh Self-Help Group (SHG) members under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).

The campaign is designed to provide structured support to rural entrepreneurs, particularly SHG women, by enhancing their skills, access to enterprise-related knowledge, and handholding support. It seeks to create a robust ecosystem for micro and small enterprises in rural areas.

By deepening enterprise development across India’s rural landscape, the National Campaign on Entrepreneurship aims to foster local economic growth, strengthen livelihoods, and unlock the entrepreneurial potential of SHG women, contributing to inclusive and sustainable rural development.
