National Space Day 2025 Theme

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 23rd August addressed the nation through a video message on the occasion of National Space Day 2025. He extended his warm wishes to the country and noted that this year’s theme, “From Aryabhata to Gaganyaan”, symbolizes the confidence drawn from India’s ancient knowledge and the determination for its future space journey.

Tribute to Astronaut at ISS

The Prime Minister shared that just three days earlier, he had met Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, who unfurled the Indian Tricolour at the International Space Station (ISS) — a moment that filled every Indian with pride.

Celebrations at Bharat Mandapam

The 2nd National Space Day was celebrated with grandeur at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on 23rd August 2025, with the official theme — Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan: Ancient Wisdom to Infinite Possibilities.”

Commemorating Chandrayaan-3’s Historic Success

National Space Day marks the historic achievement of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, when on 23 August 2023, the Vikram Lander successfully executed a soft landing on the lunar surface, followed by the deployment of the Pragyan Rover. With this feat, India became the fourth country in the world to land on the Moon and the first nation to land near its South Pole.

Shiv Shakti Point and National Recognition

The landing site was named “Shiv Shakti Point.” To commemorate this achievement, the Government of India officially declared August 23rd as “National Space Day.” The day has since been celebrated with pride to honour India’s growing strength in space exploration.
