Norway India Partnership Initiative (NIPI)

The annual meeting of the Norway India Partnership Initiative (NIPI) was chaired by Union Health Secretary, Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava, on 31 October 2025 in New Delhi. May-Elin Stener, Ambassador of Norway to India, co-chaired the meeting. The meeting focused on:

  • Reviewing and approving the NIPI Progress Report 2025
  • Approving budgeted work plans for 2025–26 under Phase IV of the initiative

About NIPI

  • Norway India Partnership Initiative (NIPI) is a collaboration between the Governments of Norway and India to support:
    • Implementation of India’s National Health Policy
    • Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • NIPI provides strategic, catalytic, and innovative support to India’s National Health Mission (NHM) in:
    • Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir

Current Phase and Achievements

  • The partnership has successfully completed three phases and is now in Phase IV, offering:
    • Crucial technical support to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the NHMs of partner states
  • Governance of NIPI is through an Annual Meeting / Joint Steering Committee involving:
    • Governments of India and Norway
    • The implementing agency
