PM Modi Addresses Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana in Udupi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 28 November addressed the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana, a mass recitation event at Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi, where one lakh devotees simultaneously chanted verses from the Bhagavad Gita.

• PM Calls the Event a “Supreme Blessing”: PM Modi described the occasion as a “supreme blessing,” saying that the spiritual atmosphere and the darshan of Lord Krishna gave him “immense divine satisfaction.”

• Celebration of India’s Spiritual Heritage: Highlighting the significance of the mass gathering, the Prime Minister said the collective recitation reflected:

  • The living divinity of India’s millennia-old spiritual heritage
  • The unifying power of spirituality
  • The cultural strength of devotional traditions

• Appreciation for Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji’s Vision: PM Modi praised Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji, who conceptualised the Laksha Kantha Gita initiative and launched the global Koti Gita Lekhana Yajna, encouraging people worldwide to handwrite the Bhagavad Gita.

• Youth Engagement in Gita Teachings: The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the increasing interest among youth in the teachings of the Gita, calling it a positive and encouraging cultural trend.
