PM Modi Dedicates Advanced Night Vision Factory to the Nation in Andhra Pradesh

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation an Advanced Night Vision Factory at Nimmaluru, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, on October 16, 2025. The facility marks a major milestone in India’s quest for defence indigenization and technological self-reliance.

Enhancing Defence Manufacturing Capabilities
The Advanced Night Vision Factory will significantly boost India’s ability to produce cutting-edge night vision equipment, missile sensors, and drone guard systems. This initiative is expected to enhance operational capabilities of the Armed Forces while elevating India’s defence exports to new levels.

Project Details and Investment
The state-of-the-art facility has been established by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) with an investment of around ₹360 crore. Spread across 50.54 acres with a built-up area of 36,000 square metres, the factory is equipped with advanced infrastructure for the design, development, and production of next-generation electro-optical devices.

Focus Areas of Production
The facility will cater to both domestic and export requirements, producing:

  • Advanced Night Vision Devices for the Armed Forces
  • Infrared Seekers for indigenously developed missile systems
  • Drone Guard Systems for protection against rogue drones, UAVs, and aerial threats

Boost to ‘Make in India’ and Export Potential
The new factory underscores the government’s focus on ‘Make in India’ in defence manufacturing, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to self-reliance in critical defence technologies. It is expected to play a key role in expanding India’s global footprint in defence exports and advancing indigenous R&D capabilities.
