PM Modi Inaugurates Skyroot Aerospace’s Infinity Campus, Unveils Vikram-I Rocket

On 27 November, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Skyroot Aerospace’s new Infinity Campus in Hyderabad via video conferencing and unveiled the company’s first orbital rocket, Vikram-I, designed for satellite launches. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy attended the event in Hyderabad.

• State-of-the-Art Facility for Rocket Development
Skyroot’s Infinity Campus spans approximately 200,000 sq. ft., providing facilities to design, develop, integrate, and test multiple launch vehicles, with a production capacity of one orbital rocket per month.

• Space Sector Vital for National Development
PM Modi emphasised that the space sector is critical for communication, agriculture, marine monitoring, weather services, urban planning, and national security. He highlighted government reforms, including opening the space sector to private players, supporting startups via IN-SPACe, and preparing a new national space policy.

• Skyroot: Pioneering Private Space Venture
Founded by IIT alumni and former ISRO scientists Pawan Chandana and Bharath Dhaka, Skyroot is India’s leading private space company. In November 2022, it became the first Indian private firm to launch a rocket to space with its sub-orbital vehicle, Vikram-S.
